She joined Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connection in July 2007 through the Northwestern University Public Interest Program Fellowship, which matches graduating seniors from Northwestern with non-profits in the Chicagoland area for one year. She took on the T/MC role in April 2008. In her new role, Nicole has worked to establish and maintain relationships between Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connection and the 400 tutoring and mentoring sites in the T/MC Database. She will also be working to rebuild the August/September Volunteer Recruitment Campaign so that by September 2009, 50 tutoring and mentoring organizations in the Chicagoland area will be a part of a push to recruit volunteers to be tutor/mentors.

White graduated from Northwestern in June 2007 with a Bachelor’s in French and International Studies. During her Junior Year at Northwestern, Nicole studied abroad in Paris, France at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques. In college, Nicole was a French tutor herself, and was the afterschool French teacher at Lincoln School in Evanston for the 2006-2007 school year. Nicole also volunteered as a French interpreter at the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Marjorie Kovler Center for the Treatment of Survivors of Torture.
Nicole is a native of Eugene, Oregon and misses the mountains and the ocean, but has grown to love Chicago. She’s an avid reader and is currently training for the Chicago marathon, which will be in October. She’s also picked up playing the cello again after a break of 5 years and is thoroughly enjoying playing in a trio with two friends who play flute and harp. Right now, Nicole is especially excited about the upcoming May Tutor/Mentor Leadership and Networking Conference as well as the all the summer music festivals in Chicago.
