Mission

Our Mission: Engage workplace adults in structured activities that make a life-changing difference for youth living in economically and educationally disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Our Vision: Every child who joins a tutor/mentor program in 7th or 8th grade is starting a job and career of his or her choice by age 25.

Our program includes:

  • Tutoring – Students have access to a comfortable environment for studying, learning, getting homework help. Students have access to computers and the Internet.
  • Mentoring - By working with the same volunteer week after week, students and volunteers form a relationship beyond a tutor and her tutee.
  • Enrichment Activities – Students have the opportunity to join clubs focused on art, technology, video, writing and leadership.
  • How do we measure our impact?  Metrics used to evaluate Cabrini Connections.

In addition to our Cabrini Connections program, we also run a second program. The Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC) is dedicated to the growth of comprehensive, volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs in all poverty neighborhoods of Chicago. The T/MC is a result of the lessons learned from operating a single tutor/mentor program for more than 30 years. These lessons are applied in a variety of ways to help programs like Cabrini Connections operate in hundreds of neighborhoods.
