Special Thanks
The Cabrini Connections’ staff would like to give a special thanks to all of the volunteers and students that continued to remain connected to the program over the summer.  We are getting more and more traffic through the program over the summer and we are also getting more and more people interacting with each other outside of the program.  THANK YOU for staying connected!

1st Quarter Snack and Beverage Sign Up
Please make an effort to sign up for the snack and beverage list for the 1st quarter.  If you are coming in this week for orientations you should sign up then.  We’d like to complete the list in the first 2 weeks of the 1st quarter.

Video & Filmmakers Club shines this summer!
During an 8-week summer session, Video Club, consisting of three volunteer leaders and seven students in grades 7-11, produced two music videos entirely on their own. For a complete recap of their summer, check out their blog below.

From the Leadership:

Welcome to 2011-10 Cabrini Connections!

Each person who becomes part of Cabrini Connections begins a journey of transformation. The more effort you put into learning what we do, and how you can contribute, or benefit, from the time you spend, the more you will be enriched.  This week we will do volunteer and student orientations and next week we'll  have the first official tutor/mentor sessions. Many of you are already meeting with students, and many of you are returning from last year, so already have started relationships.

As you go through this journey please take time each week to browse the email newsletter, which we will try to get to you each Tuesday. It will also be posted on the Cabrini Connections web site.  Please also take some time every couple of weeks to review the blogs. This information is intended to coach you and your student in your weekly activities, and to expand your understanding of why we are needed, and what you and the people you know can do to help us have a greater impact on the kids in this program.

You will begin to hear Tutor/Mentor Connection in our messages. This is what makes being part of Cabrini Connections unique.  We maintain a master database of more than 200 youth programs in Chicago, and a library of links that connects you and our students to similar programs in all parts of the world.

When we started Cabrini Connections, we decided to create the T/MC at the same time, to help good tutor/mentor programs reach kids in every poverty neighborhood, and to help create greater public attention, so that each program, including Cabrini Connections, would attract a more consistent flow of volunteers, ideas, and operating dollars.  Many of the links we will point you to throughout the year will be links on the T/MC web site, which we are sharing with thousands of other people, not just our own Cabrini Connections family.

We hope you'll use these resources, share them with friends, family and your own mentee, and that you'll even add to them as you find new resources that you want to share.

Thank you for joining Cabrini Connections, or returning for another year.

---------------------------------------------------

Here are resources that will help you throughout the coming year.  These can be used regardless of where you live, or what role you take with our organization, now, or in the future.
