At Cabrini Connections youth and adults are both
volunteers. Thus, our first measure of success is recruiting 75-80 youth and
80-90 volunteers by October of each year. Our next measure is motivating
them to attend regularly (we aim for 80% average) each week, and our goal is
that 80% or more of teens and volunteers are still active at the end of the
school year. As we start the next school year our goal is that 85% of
the teens from the previous year, and 60% or more of the volunteers will be
on the roster by mid October.
If we repeat this year after year, some of the 7th and 8th graders who join
us one year will be finishing high school five or six years later. Our
history shows that more than 38% of 500 teens have participated from 3 to 7
consecutive years since we started the program in 1994.
However, we also have begun to use the Internet to do surveys that help us
understand our impact in different ways. One of our goals is to build
eLearning habits among students and volunteers, so that when they are no
longer active at Cabrini Connections, they can still be connected to
us and our volunteers via our web sites. Thus, one goal of the surveys
is to build full participation.
The survey will be offered in January and May. Our goal is to show
improvement from one survey to the next, and one year to the next.
We'll post results so you can learn from this information as we learn
from it.
