We're Putting the FUN in Fundraise!
Starting in September when you arrive we will begin "FUN-raising for Quarters" and we're calling on each of you but PARTICIPATION IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY. Each quarter we will award a PRIZE to the volunteer who raises the most money. And the person who raises the most by the year's end could win a GRAND prize at our Year-End Dinner -- a trip for two to anywhere in the continental U.S.!* Read more at http://www.cabriniconnections.net/volunteers/FUNraiser.asp

El Da'Sheon's Message:

Making Cabrini Connections a Safer Place

As we prepare to kick-off the 2008-2009 season here at Cabrini Connections, we are enhancing our documentation procedure so that all of our volunteers, students, and staff can have that extra sense of security!  Beginning this year Cabrini Connections will require that all new and veteran volunteers, along with all staff, submit a criminal background check.  As mentioned previously, there is a $16 fee for this process and the forms will be available at the Welcome-Back Brunch on September 6th and during the Volunteer Orientations.

If there are any questions or concerns about this new process before these upcoming events, please feel free to contact Administrative Coordinator, EL Da’ Sheon Nix, at 312-492-9614.

“Very small price to pay when it comes to keeping our volunteers, students, and the Cabrini Connections’ program safe!”

Volunteers. Please RSVP.  If you have not sent a RSVP to tell us of your volunteer plans for the coming  year, please do so as quickly as you can.

Call 312-492-9615, or email eldasheon.nix@gmail.com  to provide the following information:

a) are you returning for 2008-09 tutoring year?

b) will you continue to work with the same student?  If yes, contact the student and encourage them to contact El Da'Sheon to confirm participation.

c) what night will  you tutor (Wednesday or Thursday)

Volunteer Social at ING, Inc. Coffeehouse -Thursday, August 21 --- That's tonight!!!
You can help recruit volunteers for Cabrini Connections and other tutor/mentor programs by bringing a friend to the Volunteer Social at the ING coffee house. Updates will be posted in Nicole's Blog at http://tinyurl.com/5anwf5

We hope that you all can and will continue with the Cabrini Connections’ program for the 2008-2009 year and beyond!

President's Message:

Using Your Network to Mobilize Volunteers, Donors and Leaders - Blogevangelism

I encourage you to visit http://tutormentor.blogspot.com and read the current article.  It shows how each one of us has a network who might support tutoring/mentoring at Cabrini Connections, or in another location, if they received the message.  Please take on this role in the next few weeks. Here's three things you can do:

a) encourage other veteran volunteers to RSVP so we know if they will be back

b) encourage your student to RSVP, so we know he/she will be back

c) research funding opportunities from your company, your friend's company, or a family member's company. The best introduction is from someone who already is a volunteer, or has been a volunteer.

Visit the Donor page to see companies who already have provide grants in the past two years.  These range from $1,000 to as much as $58,0000.   Every year we need to find new donors who will replace those who are not able to repeat their giving from the past year.  We can do this with your help.
